Nowadays it's no surprise to anyone that the world, and technology changes on a daily basis. By the limited even. And in many occasions some of us find ourselves asking: "What is that?" Among the new wave of products that clubs provide, many of them have available the new video and audio capability that goes by the initials: "Hdmi."
What is Hdmi?
Hdmi Tv
Hdmi stands for "Hi Definition Media Interface".
Put simply, Hdmi is the new way to transmit video and/or audio with the top capability available on most products. Fluctuating from computers, video game consoles, home theaters (Or audio systems), Tvs, and other products, Hdmi is a technology many will have to transition to in the advent months or so.
What do I need to buy to have the best quality?
This is very dependent on how you plan to use your device. Let's take for example the television: (Which is the most common, as computers, video game consoles and virtually everything connects to these nowadays.)
If you plan to:
1. Watch Blu-Ray movies?
You will need:
A. Television that supports a definition of 1080i, or 1080p*
B. The Hdmi cable to transfer the audio and video. These come in distinct qualities as well, some only able to work with a definition of 720. You will have to ask at the store to make sure you are buying the right one, or keep an eye on what the box of the cable says.
C. Blu-Ray DvD Player
*This is a branch of it's own. I will try to write about it in the near future.
2. Do you plan to play video games?
A. Console that supports Hdmi (Playstation 3, and Xbox, Wii doesn't have this yet. But they do plan to kick off one Hdmi compatible)
B. The Hdmi Cable that supports the capability you are looking for.
C. The Television that supports the capability you are looking for.
D. The Game. *
*Many games have distinct qualities. So far most are compatible with a definition of 720, with a few climbing to 1080 definition. Meaning that some of us will be just fine with a Tv, and an Hdmi cable that is cheaper, offering a capability of 720, instead of paying big bucks for 1080.
3. You would like the best audio available?
A. The home theater/audio system that supports Hdmi. Most of the recent ones do.
Prices estimates?
Tvs range from: ~350$ (Usually those that keep a definition of 720) to over 1,000$. Depending on Brand of course, screen size, and some are advent with a new technology which features even greater quality. And thus, higher prices.
Hdmi cables range from: ~10$ - ~100$
Blu-Ray DvD players range from: ~200$ - ~600$ Once more dependent on brand, and if they come with a built in with a good home theater. For the gamers out there, and sometimes for consumers in general a good option is the Playstation 3 console from Sony. As this provides many more things than a regular Blu-ray DvD player does, at ordinarily the same price or much lower.
Home theaters: These vary a lot more than even Tvs. So you will have to do a investigate of your own.
With the right decisions, with a budget of colse to ,000$ a person could have a good home theater, Blu-ray DvD or console, and Tv. So when putting yourself up to date, and have a Theater of your own in the relieve of yours house, make sure to get informed as to what you exactly need. This way you will preclude wasting money on things that you may not even need.
Enjoy a capability like no other.....until they come up with a new one in the years to come!
